Memory Jars c. 2006

Memory Jars — Celia de Villiers
Memory Jars — Glass, resin & found objects · 200 × 150 mm

Glass jars sealed with resin-cast lids hold hair, blades, razor wire, textile and wax — fragments donated by various women, each marking a failed relationship. Preserved and contained, every jar is a vessel of memory and its discomforts — a memento mori of what we keep, and what we cannot let go.

Three of the six jars are shown here.
