Image to come(Missing info)Sponsored by PPC Cement, Celia de Villiers travelled to Nieu-Bethesda — the Karoo village of Helen Martins’ Owl House — as a consultant to the ‘Struggle in Peace’ embroidery group, developing a range of products and motivating its members, and translating the forms of the Owl House sculptures into hand-stitched, felted mermaids, owls and figures — the mermaid a motif of Helen Martins’ Owl House.
It belongs to her wider community and craft-development practice, alongside collaborations such as the Intuthuko collective near Johannesburg.
